Salt Lake City, UT

The third annual 5 Canyons Ultramarathon will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2020.

5 Canyons is one of the most beautiful ultramarathon challenges in the country, ascending more than 7,000 feet over 36 miles (58 km) through five of Salt Lake City's most picturesque canyons.  Rally your friends and family and come join us in September!

Always held on the second odd-numbered Saturday in September, 5 Canyons takes advantage of Utah's most brilliant month for  trail running.  The canyons provide cool temperatures, colorful foliage, and stunning views.  And, there is no more abundance of beautiful canyons in all the world than along Utah’s Wasatch Front.  The event is literally a breath of fresh air from start to finish.

All proceeds benefit Wings of Justice, a nonprofit dedicated to putting an end to child abuse.  The inspiration for the run is that there Ain't No Mountain High Enough to keep us from fighting for the most vulnerable among us, our children.

*****NEW and IMPROVED COURSE!!!!****** The run begins at Elbow Fork in Millcreek Canyon and then proceeds up the Mount Aire Trail over Lamb’s Canyon Pass and down Lamb’s Canyon Trail through Lamb’s Canyon into Parley’s Canyon. It continues from Parley’s Canyon along the Sheep Trail.  However, instead of continuing to East Canyon, up to Little Mountain, down Emigration Canyon and across the BST (2019 - 2020 course), we are excited to announce a newly modified, more challenging and scenic course.  At the end of the Sheep Trail, runners will climb up the mountain towards Big Mountain (top of East Canyon).  From there, we will continue along the backside of the Wasatch Mountains all the way to the top of City Creek Canyon.  We will then descend down the Meadows Trail, past Smugglers Gap until you reach the City Creek Canyon road.  There is a brief section of road before getting back on the parallel City Creek Trail which will take you all the way down to the bottom of City Creek Canyon.  We then run the final section of the race on Bonneville Blvd finishing at the Utah State Capitol.  The run includes 7,000 feet of vert over 58 kilometers (36 miles)!
