The highlight of the race is running into the sea on the breakwater of the Dead Sea Works that surrounds the southern part of the Dead Sea. Runners will find breathtaking landscapes that have only been observed by employees of the Dead Sea Works or the security forces.

The breakwater serves as the border area between the Dead Sea and the Jordanian Dead Sea and passes as a barrier without a fence between countries that maintain a common daily routine and peace between the two sides. The trail is mostly on compressed aggregate gravel flat area.

The main area of this larger running celebration set on the new hotel promenade in Ein Bokek features the start and finish lines as well as the closing event. Dead Sea hotels offer accommodation and hospitality package deals in the heart of the happening.

The Dead Sea Marathon is professionally recognized and standardized event overseen by the AIMS and the Israeli Athletic Association, the measurement of track distances is carried out by a qualified surveyor. Together with the Association, we hold the Israel Championship 50 km race - the only one of its kind in the country!

The Dead Sea Marathon has developed from foundations of the veteran Ein Gedi race (originally started in the name of two children who tragically died), which for more than 30 years hosted tens of thousands of runners and served as an anchor point in the annual amateur and professional racing calendar from all over the country. A race that indulged in the magical and quiet landscape of the area. In continuation of the commemoration of this past event the 21.1 km will be held in memory of Tomer and Giora Ron, members of Kibbutz Ein Gedi.

The race takes place with the assistance and support of the Israel Chemicals Company, the Dead Sea Drainage Authority and the Government of the Dead Sea Protection Company.

Tamar Regional Council and Forum Productions invite runners to take part in an international marathon, which has established itself as a mandatory race on the Israeli racing calendar! Running around the Dead Sea, alongside ancient salt crystals and facing the magical and quiet desert scenery.
