Farmland Course and Info

The Farmland races start and finish at Calico Skies Vineyard and Winery near the towns of Inwood Iowa and Canton South Dakota. The course is a "loop" course with each loop being approximately 12.5 miles for the 100 and 50 milers. The 50K course will consist of a loop of approximately 15.5 miles.100= 8 loops of the 12.5 mile course and the 50= 4 loops of the12.5 mile course. The 50K will be 2 loops of the 15.5 mile course. All races will be run entirely on maintained gravel roads through rich farmland of Northwest Iowa. The route covers a beautiful area of America's Heartland and is in close proximity to the Big Sioux River. (50K-ers will cross the bridge over the river into neighboring South Dakota for a short "out-n-back") The course consists of small "rolling" hills left during the last great Ice Age when the glacial formations receded. There is less than 700 ft of elevation gain for each loop. Coupled with the fact that there are no water crossings that will get your feet wet and are no "technical" sections to traverse, this course lends itself to be fast for the experienced runner and very doable for the first timer.

There will be aid at the start/finish and also at the 6.25 mile mark (approximately)

Packet pickup at Calico Skies Vineyard and Winery, 2368 Able Blvd, Inwood IA 51240 Thursday 4:00pm-7:00pm and Friday from 5:00am to 11:00pm...100 mile runners are encouraged to get their packets on Thursday.

Pacers are allowed in the 100 mile event after 4 loops. Only one pacer allowed at a time. No pacers allowed in the 50 miler or 50K

Crews are asked to give aid to their runner only at the start/finish. This is primarily for safety reasons. Roads will not be closed for this event, so the fewer cars, the safer it will be for your runner.

Drop bags will be allowed at the start/finish. They will be kept inside Calico Skies or you may keep them in your vehicle.
