Cutoffs at approximate distances are; 4 hours & 30 minutes at 25K, 10 hours at 50K, 16 hours & 30 minutes at 75K and 24 hours at 101K. COURSE DESCRIPTION: A double out & back on the gorgeous Elk River Hiking Trail, just outside of Independence, KS. Accurately measured forest trail winding through unique limestone bluffs, rock formations & picturesque vistas. Mostly single-track, very rocky, no long hills. AID STATIONS: 19 Aid Stations; 11 fully-stocked with water, electrolyte drink & snack-type foods, including soup and sandwiches; 8 aid stations water only. Approximate distance between aid stations is 3.5 miles with no distance greater than 4 miles between aid stations. CHECK-IN (Staging Area): Race headquarters will be located in the Outlet Channel Group Shelter (north side of the Elk City Lake dam). Packet pick-up will be held from 3-5 PM on Friday evening April 29th, 2016. Immediately followed by a pasta, meatballs & salad dinner. Late packet pick-up Saturday Morning, April 30th, 2016 from 5-6 AM. POST-RACE: Breakfast type food, biscuits & gravy, eggs, sausage, hash browns, etc., will be served to finishers throughout the night and on through the finish of the race Sunday morning.
