Penticton, BC

The race will start along the shores of Skaha Lake and begin a gradual ascent around the dramatic Skaha Bluffs, a recreation area famous for its rock climbing, then weave its way through peaceful grassland benches and into dense forests where runners will emerge after a seemingly endless climb at the high point (approx. 1600m/5250ft). From here, it's all downhill. Well, kinda... Enjoy a few easy miles on forest service roads, then duck back onto the trails for some fast and flowy singletrack with more big views of the City of Penticton as you get closer to civilization. But the fun's not over yet. Before calling it a day, you'll get a taste of two popular trail networks favoured by local hikers, bikers and runners. These smooth, non-technical trails will be a welcome treat for tired legs. Then it's just a gentle downhill cruise on the Kettle Valley Rail trail to the finish where hot food and a cold beer await you.*

Due to the rugged and remote nature of this course, we strongly suggest only confident and experienced trail runners register. Please no beginners - for your safety and our peace of mind! We recommend all Mighty Quail participants successfully complete a 50km race within the past year. There will be aid on the course, but it will be more limited than many races. Plan to be self-sufficient in terms of hydration and nutrition, and prepared to go 3-5 hours between aid stations, which will be available approximately every 20kms.
