The Nuclear Meltdown Elimination Race will be held at the Byron Motorsports Park 2525 E. Ash Rd. Byron, IL.

The course: approx. 3.2 mile course with approx. 370 ft of gain which is mostly wooded on single track, double track, jeep road and a quarter mile of manmade hills on the dirt bike motor cross track. Yes, you’ll be running a small section of actual dirt & mulch motor cross track! It’s really a one of a kind experience to run on these private property trails right next to the Byron Nuclear Plant. You can expect some rocks, roots, plenty of twists and nonstop rolling hills in this loop.

How does the elimination race work? We start at 8am and you have 60 minutes to cross the finish line and finish that loop. If not, you’re eliminated from the race. 60 minutes to go 3.2 miles, sounds easy, right? The trick is pacing. Run the loop to fast and you’ll have to much time to stiffen up and cool down. Take it too slow and run the risk of elimination or potentially “melting down” as the hours fly by while you’re chasing the cutoff. Your mental game will be as important as the physical one.
