The Spence Mountain Run will consist of two events, a 50k and 30k. Both events will be primarily on single track trails. Most of the trails are technical in nature with tree roots, rocks, drops, etc. Both events will climb to the summit of Spence Mountain twice. At the beginning of the race you will climb a double black diamond trail (very technical) that is approximately 2.5 miles long with 1,200 feet of gain and is covered with many rocks. Later in the event you will climb approximately 1,500 feet over 5 miles back to the summit. Both events run the first 30K on the same course. The 50K adds 13 miles to the end of the 30K course. The event will be between 30 and 32 miles, dense tree cover and new trails will lead to inaccuracy in measuring the distance.
