Welcome to the Wy'east Howl, offering super scenic 100K and 50K trail running races on Mt. Hood and its surrounding ridgelines. As the only ultramarathon run on the slopes of Mt. Hood, the race provides a totally unique and beautiful trail race experience, including some miles on the iconic Timberline Trail! The event is staged at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort, offering world-class amenities, views and hospitality including camping the night before the race!

The courses offer incredible views of Wy'east (the native name for Mt. Hood) from start to finish, with miles of runnable singletrack trails through a variety of mountainous forest, lush wildflower meadows and exposed ridgelines. With amazing scenery, top notch on-course support and amenities, the event provides a unique and thrilling trail race experience on Mt. Hood you can enjoy with friends and family.

The route includes 25 miles of single track, 6 miles of rugged, historic double track and 0.9 mile of pavement. The route travels through an assortment of climate zones, including valley oak woodland, mixed fir/pine forest, mountain prairie, and sub-alpine fir/larch forest. The trails are mostly runnable dirt singletrack, with a fair amount of hilly, rocky technical sections and a few talus fields. There are a few significant ascents, especially early in the race, mixed with rolling hills and descents later in the course.

The 100K course offers an incredible tour of Mt. Hood! This one-of-a-kind mountain race includes 9 aid stations, with 4 offering drop bag and crew access. The course is out and back, starting and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows, and traveling over to Gunsight Ridge and Surveyors Ridge and back on an amazing and very runnable trail network. This is an incredibly diverse course, as runners travel through an assortment of ecological zones, including lush midsummer wildflower meadows, sub-alpine fir and larch forest, as well as a fascinating transition zone of Douglas fir/ponderosa pine forest that forms the border between western and central Oregon. Most of the course is very runnable dirt singletrack, with quite a bit of hill climbing, a few rocky technical sections and a couple loose talus fields. The Timberline Trail and Umbrella Falls Trail on Mt. Hood also have several small creek crossings as well. Spectacular views await along this challenging and unique course.
